Umpire Guide

A quick-view page for officials working Travel Baseball Alliance games.

Purpose

The Travel Baseball Alliance was created to provide a competitive environment that promotes player development, sportsmanship, accountability, and high-level baseball while preserving the independence of participating organizations.

Game Philosophy

TBA is not designed to simply record a final score and move participants on to the next round or event. Our goal is to provide players with the most complete and authentic baseball experience possible.

Official Expectations

  • Enforce rules consistently and professionally.
  • Promote sportsmanship and respect.
  • Communicate clearly with coaches and players.
  • Maintain pace of play without rushing the baseball experience.
  • Prioritize player safety at all times.

Rules Notes

  • USSSA rules govern unless specifically modified by TBA regulations.
  • Judgment calls remain within the authority of game officials.
  • Officials should review TBA-specific modifications before first pitch.
  • Alliance Games should be managed professionally and efficiently.

Time Limits Matter

An expiring time limit is exactly that — an expiring time limit. If thirty seconds remain before expiration and conditions reasonably permit, officials are encouraged to begin the next inning rather than ending competition early for convenience.

Play For More

The TBA Way values development alongside competition, professionalism alongside intensity, and complete baseball experiences over simply moving to the next game.
